System curves with recycle lines
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
I remember learning about recycle lines in one of my process engineering courses, but it was primarily about mass & component mass balances. I also recall having to iterate to arrive at steady state. When someone asked me about system curves for systems with recycles (pressure drop in recycle lines), I had to do some thinking on how to go about generating one . This was the result. Pressure drop (and system curves) for diverging branches

Okay, great. But what will happen to the shut-off head in case you increase the suction pressure? For example, if there is a pump with a suction pressure of 0.2 bar and a discharge pressure of 9.5 bar, and the shut-off head is 10 bar, what will happen to the pump shut-off head when you increase the suction pressure to 1.5 bar? Will it increase or remain constant?

AC is just a heat transfer system using some substance that can boil inside (absorb heat) just above boiling point of water and condense outside (give up heat). No such thing as cold only less heat. Heat always moves from hot to less hot

You mentioned that water flows from a high pressure location to a low pressure location. A hose connected to a pump that is going down hill would have higher pressure due to head gain at the nozzle compared to at the pump outlet, but the water still flows down hill. Can you explain what's going on in that situation?

@5:50 you say the pump would give 0 pressure when there's no load. Can you clarify which pressure you're talking about? I assume you mean 0 (ie. atmospheric) static pressure? There would still be dynamic pressure due to the kinetic energy of the moving water?

Will installing smaller diameter pipes increase pressure to the pump head preventing loss of prime. So 50mm pipes to pump head 63mm discharge?
